Youngsters Raise Their Game

Bentham Junior football team now have an illuminated training area.

Linda Rushton approached me on behalf of Bentham Playing Fields Association to look into lighting an area of the fields for training. I set about designing the scheme with some nifty software and it was decided that two 1Kw fixtures mounted on two masts 15m high. Costings were provided and Linda set about raising the funds. After a succesful bid to Sport England - no mean feat, well done Linda. Planning permission granted The masts were ordered from Kevin Woodhouse at Dalesde Welding. Lanterns and cables were ordered from CEF Morecambe. Ground works were provided by Brian Lawson. Cables drawn. Kevin errected the masts with the fittings and cables in place. Control boxes installed, the whole system inspected and tested. Switch on, excellent now wait for it to go dark. " Having our own winter training ground has meant a big difference to the kids, more kids are training as they can get to the ground easier. With so many kids competing it's really raising the game." Lee Hayward Head Coach. The scheme which let's face it ain't exactly premier spec provides adequate lighting and only costs around 15p per hour, coupled with long life lamps Bentham Juniors should be cruising up the charts, watch out you Shrimpers......
